This ambitious 1,443-kilometer pipeline extends from Uganda to the Tanga Port on Tanzania’s east coast, designed to transport crude oil efficiently and safely.
About the EACOP System
The EACOP infrastructure is segmented into three main components:
Above Ground Installations (AGIs):
- Six pumping stations (PS-1 to PS-6)
- Two pressure-reducing stations (PRS-1 and PRS-2)
Pipelines
- A continuous, 24-inch, 1,443-kilometer heated export pipeline
- Intermediate valve chambers
- Electric heat tracing (EHT) systems
- High voltage distribution (HV) and fiber optic (FO) cables
Offshore Storage Terminals (MST)
These components collectively ensure the efficient flow of crude oil from the Kabaale hub in Uganda to the storage reservoir in Tanga, Tanzania.
Role of the Main Contractor: CPP
China Petroleum Pipeline Engineering Company Ltd (CPP) is tasked with constructing the entire 1,443km of the 24-inch oil export pipeline (PPL), along with:
- Eight aboveground installations (AGIs)
- Mainline block valves and trace heating stations
- Sixteen main camps and pipe yards (MCPY), distributed across Uganda and Tanzania

Job Description
The selected Mechanical Engineer will be responsible for:
- Clarifying technical issues related to mechanical documents.
- Communicating with CPY/EPcmC/CTR’s construction teams on-site.
- Providing relevant technical data and analyzing technical problems at the construction site.
- Offering construction technical services and participating in optimization and design changes for AGI construction.
- Preparing, reporting, and executing documents related to optimization or engineering changes.
- Engaging in project technical exchanges and training activities to enhance the management skills of crew technicians.
- Reporting technical management issues to the Field Engineering Representative.
- Managing interfaces and participating in construction technology innovation activities.
- Preparing responses to technical queries and resolving site-related issues.
- Ensuring the maintenance of up-to-date redline mark-ups and engineering documentation.
- Supervising the erection, preservation, and testing of delivered materials and equipment as per approved construction documentation.
- Preparing and documenting repair procedures to support construction teams.
- Managing pre-commissioning engineering related to punch items.
- Ensuring the adequate preservation of equipment.
- Controlling all documents issued to the field as per the latest MDR and applicable Document Management Procedures.
- Reviewing and commenting on deliverables such as Method Statements, Procedures, and Quality Plans for engineering aspects.
- Performing other relevant responsibilities as needed.
Requirements
Candidates must have:
- Fluency in English for effective communication.
- Proficiency in written English.
- A minimum of ten years of direct engineering experience, with at least five years in mechanical engineering.
- Proficiency in AutoCAD, and Microsoft Office (including MS Office, MS Excel, and PowerPoint).
- Experience in international engineering projects, construction management, or site coordination.
